As promised the following are images of my trip to the Holy cities of Makkah and Madina. During this visit I made a Minor Pilgrimage (Umrah in arabic).
I’m sure some of these images will seem quite exotic to you so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
This post is None Voice Related and only pertains to my trip. Whenever I go on a personal trip I try to take as many pictures as possible and post them on the blog.
The pictures are just stunning! I can only imagine what it would be like to go on such a journey & to see such amazing sights. i have traveled most of the US & while I enjoy the natural beauty of many of the places I have visited – there really just isn’t architecture that can even begin to compare – let alone the incredible historical significance. Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your pilgrimage. All the best to you & your family always!
Glad to see you’re up and about! There really is nothing like being a part of history by taking part in a religious rite that has been around since the Prophet Abraham started it. So that’s about 5000 + years. Like I said even though these are the closest places to my heart they might seem alien and exotic to some of my readers. And I have always thought that it was a shame that so few have even seen glimpses of these places.
Wishing you the best of Health always,
Thank you so much for sharing these pictures of your Hajj. It’s remarkable and inspirational to see that all pilgrims -rich or poor- are equals. I love the use of geometrical floral designs in the architecture, and your pictures capture it so well. I hope you came back rejuvenated and inspired! I imagine it’s hard not to.
Actually this was a Umrah (Minor Pilgrimage) not a Hajj. I performed Hajj back in 2005/2006 so I am not required to perform it again unless I either wish to do so or have the means. Since my wife has not gone for Hajj I will go with her when we have saved up for that trip.
Umrah is much shorter (3 hours tops) and can be performed several times.
Floral Islamic designs were a result of the prohibition of realistic portraits. As you might know by now we do not allow for any images of our Prophet or his companions so as not to have people supplicate to them instead of to God.
Definitely Rejuvenated. One often becomes lax when one’s spiritual reserve runs a little low.
