Good Evening Folks,
Haven’t updated lately cause I’ve been stuck home sick with a cold. Which would be a great time to put together an article or two if it wasnt for the being sick part.
Over the last 3 days I’ve gone through the usual sore throat, sniffles, runny nose, green phlegm, sneezes (I read on www.mylifeisaverage.com that saying pika… before the inevitable sneeze makes colds more fun… they don’t but I still read MLIA anyway).
Obviously what stands out the most is the fact that you can no longer do any voice over work. In my case my voice has gone down an octave… and for a guy who has a baritone voice… that means I speak in bass now. Everything is a rumble… I’m pretty sure if there are any dogs in my neighborhood they are staying away just from the sonic onslaught that is me talking.
So what remedies did I take?
1. Lemon and Ginger bags (with honey)
2. Tea with lemon and honey
3. Hot Lemon with honey
4. Soup (Lentil soup and Pumpkin soup)
Did any of it help?
Sure it did… but not in so much as in the fact that my voice was miraculously cured. We don’t have a china town here in Cairo so it would be highly unlikely that I would be able to find that hornet tea concoction that the voices.com people mentioned in this article : http://blogs.voices.com/voxdaily/2009/09/hornet_tea.html
either way I’m not big on eating bugs… not a delicacy in my culture (although locusts are in the Bedouin culture… but not for all tribes).
Day before yesterday right when it was time to go to bed… my sinuses where just about to blow my head up… which to be honest was the one of the main reasons I went to the doctor the next day… decongestants… they just work!
1. I felt terrible
2. I lost a quick VO job
3. I couldn’t do much
4. I still had to monitor my work email (at the ad agency) in case someone messed up while I was away.
1. No work for 3 days
2. I sounded like Darth Vader (always cool)
3. I took naps (I love naps)
Drop me a line and tell me how you’ve been people! Whether you have cold remedies you’d like to share or you are also suffering a cold and would like to bond… say it all in the comments section.
