It’s the weekend in Egypt (yes over here Thursday is the last working day of the week) and as I was going through my regular morning RSS browsing (I am a big technology buff and like to read a few tech blogs like www.engadget.com and www.gizmodo.com) I stumbled on a review of Amazon’s new Kindle DX… this is what it looks like:

Pretty impressive huh! and I thought to myself… wouldn’t it be nice to replace my printer with something like that… I mean some of my clients (e-learning and such) actually ask me for lo fi Voice Over quality when I record so I actually just record with a regular computer mic (ok its a special mic that I came across a few years back and it was so outstanding that I am still able to sell VOs recorded with it) and when I record for that client I usually just read the script off the screen and thats the end of that. So I finally got around to Steven Lowell’s answer to my post Voice123 wants to turn my account inacctive

It seems that almost all voice talent that I have spoken to recently and who have dealt with the voice over casting site Voice 123 unanimously dislike their SmartCast System.
The site itself doesn’t seem to be that bad … well except for having horrible Public Relations and generally a very automated feel to everything. A feeling that is a little less felt in Voices.com. Bodalgo.com and VOplanet.com have a much smaller setup so you still feel like you’re dealing with human beings on the other end.
But recently while checking my Feedburner statistics (to know if you are enjoying my blog or if I’m doing something wrong) I noticed that someone else is using the term SmartCast…. not only that but they have it as a Trade Mark. Read More

I gotta tell you folks, I never liked the iPhone… I am not a big fan of Apple Computer Systems. I used their computers throughout the 90s and up until 2005 since I worked in the Design business but honestly I just never liked them… mind you I never liked PCs either… I had Linux (ubuntu for those interested) installed on my main home PC for a while but I got frustrated when I would get freelance design work and couldn’t use the native linux software to finish the work. I know their is software that could do the job … I was just not proficient enough in it to use it.
So! I pretty much hate all operating systems equally… And I have to say the same goes to the iPhone’s operating system. Its slow… I mean reeeeaaally slow compared to say my old Palm Treo 650… of course the treo had half the screen size and resolution … didnt have 1/5th the processing power and didnt have wifi. Incidently I own a 2G… in Egypt buying an iPhone cost an arm and a leg so I bought it used for a little more than you would buy it in the states (or canada) with a contract. Read More
