What Won't You Work On?

First off… I cant believe I actually found an image of a microphone with a stop sign on it without me having to photoshop it myself…. or host it myself.

But lets get back to the topic of this post. What, as a Voice Over Artist/Talent/Producer, won’t you work on. I know most of you have had difficultly finding VO work because of the economic crisis that the whole globe is going through… thanks to usary, the reserve banks of america and wall street in general. But I for one dont follow that code of conduct. I am not a full time Voice Over Talent… as I mentioned in previous blog posts I am a Creative Director at an Advertising Company. So I can pick and choose what jobs to work on. Read More

GetSocial Blog Helper by Hillel Stoler

Hello All,

With the advances in the blogosphere happening in leaps and bounds… I was looking for a way to promote my blog to the masses. I’ve read alot of blogs myself and what I’ve noticed is that they have this little strip at the bottom of each blog that contains a list of Social Bookmarking sites.

As a canadian I am very proud to have been an early adopter of StumbleUpon which was developed by a couple of students up north for the Firefox browser. And I am a regular contributer to that bookmarking service… This was almost the same time that Digg.com was established and got popular. Read More

For Whom The Bells Toll, They toll for Thee… ISDN

RIP – ISDN

Live sessions from your home with ISDN… This is what revolutionized the idea of work from home for Voice Over Artists. And then suddenly going to work was as simple as putting on your robe … and going down to your basement where your home studio with its brand spanking new ISDN line was set up. Read More

Studio / Voice Over Jargon Guide

I found this at Voicefinder.biz … I thought it might be informative… It sure explained alot to me!

Voicefinder.biz rough guide to studio language and people

ADR: Automatic Dialogue Replacement – although there’s nothing automatic about it. During a shoot on location, ambient background dialogue is often left out to be added in studio at a later date. ADR is the recording process employed to recreate this background. Occasionally main characters will be revoiced during ADR sessions using lipsynching. See also post-synching, dubbing, and lipsynch.

Beta SP: Commonly used (if slightly obsolete since the apparition of the DigiBeta) tape format for recording to picture. For in-depth info click here. Read More
